Was born and grew up in an artistic family   in Vienna. Her first artistic impressions were the great exhibition of “Paul Klee”, the “Surrealism” at the Secession and the Art Club exhibition   Friedensreich Hundertwasser in Vienna. She was already in her highschool years part of a circle of writers and painters. With the poet   Konrad Bayer she played in Peter Kubelka's film “Mosaik im Vertrauen”, which received the first prize at a festival of experimental film in Paris. For many years she did filmwork in front and behind the camera with   her husband, the fimmaker Ferry Radax. In these years she started to paint as autodidact. After her divorce she decided definitely for painting and from 1970 on she began to show her work in galleries in Austria and abroad.

For the book “Ida und Ob” by the Austrian writer Barabara Frischmuth she realized a painting for the cover.1973 she did the illustrations for the children's book “Herr Mantel und Herr Hemd “ by the Austrian novelist Gerhard Roth, for the Insel Verlag, Frankfurt/Main. 2000 Friedensreich Hundertwasser chose one of her paintings to become   a stamp of the Austrian post in the serie “Modern Art in Austria” 2001 she took part in an exhibition   with 12 artists “Boites d'artistes” at the gallery Gladys Mougin, Paris, it was a big success;

Travelling was and still is very important for Ida Szigethy, in reality as well as in her imagination. She lived in Vienna, Zurich, Munich, Brussels, Amsterdam, Venice, Bali and Réunion Island and since 1978 in Paris. Ida Szigethy continues her nomadic life, she travelled all over   Europe, the United States, Brazil, Greece, Turkey, Israël, India, Ladakh Thailand, Cambodia, Bali, Java, Singapore, Hawaii, Seychelles and   the   Réunion island. After these trips   to Java, Bali and Réunion and impressed by the beauty of the island, the volcano, the chameleonss and the flowers, she starts paintings inspired by the   tropical flora et fauna.

Her paintings are in the collection of the Albertina museum   Vienna, the Austrian Chancellery Vienna, Oesterreichische Postsparkassa Vienna, the Artothek in Vienna as well as in the Artotheque St Denis, Réunion island and in various important private collection in Paris, London, Milan, Vienna, Amsterdam, Washington, Réunion as well as in the collection of Friedensreich Hundertwasser in Venice.
